The format was specified by the Surface Design Association's Membership Exhibition rules. SDA will hang the exhibited pieces so that they may be seen from both sides; therefore I designed this so that some of the blue squares are attached (along the top edge only) on one side of the netting layers and the rest to the other side. The branches are sewn through all layers.
