This large art quilt was commissioned for an orthodontist's office. The doctor wanted artwork that was colorful and fun, and would hold children's interest while sitting through long orthodontic procedures.
Most of the elements (map, birds, stars, fruit, background) are based on a diamond shape. The map projection was also chosen to portray the earth with less distortion of the area of the continents. The dancing figures are made entirely of thread, and are composed of triangular elements.
