The Leonids are an annual meteor shower which appear to come from the direction of the constellation Leo. The last few years have seen a dramatic increase in the number of 'falling stars' during this shower.
Leo strides across the center of the quilt, surrounded by other spring constellations. I tried to be accurate in the placement of the metal stars. The constellation lines are silver metallic foil; Leo is 'drawn' with silver and gold foil. The meteors are depicted with several hues of glitter paint and silver metallic thread. Quilting in the center black section uses black thread in a variety of meandering patterns. Quilting in the outer border uses variegated thread along with a blue 'glamour' thread sewn with a double needle.
