In 2001, I was honored to be one of four artists from Virginia (and approximately 204 in the U.S.) who made an ornament for the White House Christmas Tree. The theme was "At Home for the Holidays". Each ornament was to be a representation of an historic home or place of worship in the artist's state. The ornaments were three-dimensional, primarily white, and within certain size and weight parameters. These photographs were taken during the White House reception for the artists and decorators.

I am smiling because I found my ornament! It didn't get lost in the anthrax mailing problems, and it didn't get smashed, and it didn't get hung in an invisible place!

A closer look at my ornament: Oak Hill, home of James Monroe, our fifth president. The other side of the ornament/house has a portico with seven columns.

James Monroe, fifth president, owner of Oak Hill. The painting hangs in the Blue Room, where the special tree is. Thank you, Mr. Monroe.

In 2004, the ornaments for the Virginia Governor's Christmas Tree were all fiber art. These are the two ornaments I donated (each about 4 inches tall).
