The scene is typical of Baltimore, Maryland. Each window is unique. I had chosen fabric (including netting) to portray shades, screens, or wallpaper in the windows, and a variety of stonework for the houses. Many small fabric motifs were used to add character: a cat, a girl, potted flowers, a flag, vegetables, a birdhouse with blackbirds, and a Baltimore Orioles baseball team logo which I inked myself.
This piece was commissioned for a public building in Baltimore.
